About us
Irwin Cine started out as a collaboration of Sam Irwin, camera assistant, and Max Blake, design engineer.
In 2019, Sam approached Max with an idea — together, after countless prototypes and hours of tinkering, they created the X-Plate.
Sam and Max soon founded Irwin Blake, giving the X-Plate a home and a platform. From there, combining their knowledge and expertise, they developed the full range of products that make up the catalogue today.
Irwin Cine represents the next step in that journey — a company that understands what assistants need, dedicated to filling the gaps that others overlook.
Sam Irwin
Sam's a 1st AC / Focus Puller working in the UK.
Having always loved watching films, he found a particular interest in camera moves and the technical side of movie making.
Deciding to go to film school introduced him to the roles of camera technicians, and he aimed to join the UK Film and Television industry.
Starting in 2013 as a camera trainee and then stepping up to clapper loader in 2015, and focus puller in 2024, he's focussed on efficiency at work. Having had experience on a variety of productions, he's been exposed to common problems throughout the industry.
